Kraft-Tex is a unique, heavy paper that is paintable, washable, and holds stitches beautifully. Using a combination of kraft-tex and watercolor paper, simple designs will be drawn and then painted with light washes of acrylic paint. These motifs, combined with paper ephemera, will be assembled into a collage. Simple hand-stitches accent the designs adding colorful texture to the artworks. Suitable for framing. Your class kit — a $35 fee paid directly to the instructor the morning of class — includes the following: Kraft-Tex Kraft Paper Fabric sheets; watercolor papers; set of 12 acrylic paint tubes; paint brushes; paper paint chips and paper ephemera; black permanent fine tip marker; awl; foam pad; assorted embroidery threads; sewing needles and glue. Student Supply List: Water cup and paper towels; protected work surface; paper scissors and Art apron if you usually wear one. The following supplies are optional: Light-weight ephemera; additional embroidery threads and perle cotton.

About the Instructor: Libby Williamson, a mixed-media fiber artist, pushes the boundaries of her art, incorporating metal, rope, paint, vintage relics, used tea bags and a wide variety of fabrics and fibers into her work. She relishes the challenge of constructing fiber art that entails stitching (with pliers) through rigid and coarse materials. Though technically quilts, her works are rarely categorized as such. Williamson’s award-winning work has been exhibited internationally in numerous invitational and juried exhibits, textile and art museums. She presents workshops at guilds, museums, shops, and destination art retreats, as well as offering online classes. Williamson has been published in Quilting Arts Magazine, Patchwork Professional, and Fiber Arts Now and has appeared on Quilting Arts TV, and THE QUILT SHOW with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. She holds BA in studio art and is a credentialed art teacher in New York and California.Though she pursues many craft forms, Williamson’s passion and primary focus remain with fabrics and fibers.
