Better than a note in a bottle, tell a story or document a collection of treasured scraps from your stash. We’ll be on a roll in this fun class — fusing fabric, ribbons, laces and trims, all accented with easy hand stitching. Add a message or create tactile designs as you assemble this one of a kind journal spool. Your class kit — a $20 fee paid directly to the instructor the morning of the first day of class class — includes almost everything you need: vintage wooden spool approximately 3.5 in. tall and 2 in. wide, use of a wide variety of fabrics (print cottons, silks, hand-dyed textiles, block prints, monoprints, image transfers & more) and trims, fusibles, and use of WonderFil Specialty Threads. ♦ Student Supply List (please bring the following with you to class) ● scissors (for fabric, paper scissors too if using) ● your favorite hand stitching needle (Judy recommends Tulip Chenille needles) ● thimble and needle threader if you usually use while stitching) ● your favorite fabrics (this is the perfect place to use small scraps and odd cuts) — cotton, silk, linen, sheers and more. Anything you can pull a needle and thread through! ● Favorite colors of threads... embroidery floss if you want a big-stitch look as in sashiko ● Buttons, beads, charms, trinkets, and other lightweight (and relatively flat) items for embellishing ● Favorite ephemera — paper can be stitched in too! ● wooden spools if you’d like to make more than one.
