Very often artists use representational objects or words as a means of expressing meaning in their work. For this class, \u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(189, 0, 0);\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ewe will instead use marks and symbols as a means of carrying meaning, conveying information, and sharing an emotion.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e We will start by creating the background for our pieces, layer by layer, with the Gel Plate using paint and ink. This will be followed by guided creative exercises to build your vocabulary in mark making and to understand the meaning behind your go-to symbols. From there we move on to adding our marks to the artwork, using many of the core processes of mixed media: stamping, stenciling, mark making, and collaging. Through these marks we will tell our story.
