Mixed Media Cabinet Cards with Judy Gula

Learn Judy’s favorite collage and alteration techniques in this embellishing class. We begin with copies of vintage cabinet cards on card stock and give these folks the freedom to live in a vibrant, artsy world using paint, collage, stitching and a heaping dose of inspiration and imagination! Your class kit — a $20 fee paid directly to the instructor the morning of class includes: four copies of vintage cabinet card photographs and use of the following supplies: Judy’s collage fodder; choices of printed butterfly wings, printed tissue papers; magazines to cut for graphics; color copies of vintage German Dresdens/scrap; Finnabair/Prima Marketing Paint products in assorted colors; markers; assortment of thread choices for stitching and needles; Assorted ribbons including leaves; and tracing paper and graph paper (to space holes for stitching) ♦ Student Supply List (please bring the following with you to class) ● jar of Golden Soft Gel ● jar of Golden Gesso ● Paint brushes, from small to medium ● Water cup ● detail scissors to cut paper ● fine point Sharpie marker ● pencil ● glue stick ● awl (to punch holes) and small cutting mat. If you have any German Dresdens/scrap, please bring it for your own use.
About the Instructor: Judy Gula, owner of Artistic Artifacts, is the author of Colorful Batik Panel Quilts: 28 Quilting and Embellishing Inspirations from Around the World. Judy believes that to make art, you must live art. She finds inspiration in new and vintage materials, her interactions with other artists, and in surprising and unexpected experiences.
