The Procion Mx dye powders we sell are from Pro Chemical & Dye and require dye auxiliaries for use. Products are for experienced surface design artists or those who have taken a class as they do NOT include instructions. ProChem maintains a huge number of directions and resources: https://prochemicalanddye.net/download-center.
Dyes are sold per 3 oz. jar: individual prices (and powder weight) differ depending on the pigments necessary to create color. Dye swatch colors are a representation of the actual dye (colors may vary due to your computer settings and dye powders may not resemble the resulting color). Please test before beginning a project requiring an exact color match.
Artistic Artifacts recommends Color By Accident: Low-Water Immersion Dyeing by Ann Johnston. While out of print, used copies can be found, and Ann has generously provided a PDF of the content to download for free. Visit her website for details. PRO MX Reactive Dyes (Procion) are designed to permanently dye cellulose fibers at room temperature, 75°–95° F (24°C to 35°C). They also dye protein fibers like wool, using acid at a boil or with steam. This is the most reactive of all types of dyes and most versatile with excellent wash and light fastness properties. Work in a well ventilated area; wear a disposable dust/mist respirator if you dye fabric occasionally. If you dye fabric on a regular basis wear a MSHA/NIOSH approved respirator with cartridges for dusts, mists, and fumes.
