Updated August 4: “My definition of collage is taking individual elements that were not meant to be together and joining them into a cohesive whole that tells a story,” says Seth. “In this one-day workshop, we will take a less-is-more approach to create a painted background and a more-is-more approach to blend and layer fragments of paper and fabric. These elements will literally be tied together with hand stitching. An emphasis will be placed on developing an intuitive composition, creating texture within the layers, and leaning into our own personal styles and stories.” Kit fee: $10, payable directly to Seth. About Seth Apter: This mixed media artist, instructor, designer, shopkeep, and author from New York City transitioned from a full-time career as a psychologist to being a full-time artist and maker.
