Hand-Selected by Judy Gula in Indonesia
This striking batik fabric was personally hand-selected by Artistic Artifacts owner Judy Gula during her May 2024 tour of Indonesia. The bold cloud motif is inspired by traditional Chinese textile patterns — a design influence that traveled the ancient trade routes and took root in Indonesian batik tradition, where it was reinterpreted through the island’s own rich visual language.
The pattern is stamped using a copper tjap (pronounced "chap"), a hand-crafted metal stamp that allows artisans to reproduce intricate designs with remarkable precision while retaining the warmth and slight variation of handmade work.

Perfect For
The bold, graphic cloud motif and striking blue-and-white palette make this fabric an excellent choice for garments — blouses, kimonos, dresses, and lightweight jackets — as well as quilting, home décor, and mixed-media art projects. Its classic colorway pairs beautifully with white, navy, and natural linen tones.
As a handmade batik textile, slight variations in color and pattern are a natural part of its artisan character.
