Hand-Selected by Judy Gula in Bali, Indonesia

Tenun Gringsing is the sacred double ikat textile made exclusively in the village of Tenganan Pegringsingan in Bali, one of only three places in the world that produces true double ikat cloth. In double ikat, both the warp and weft threads are resist-dyed before weaving, requiring extraordinary precision and skill. A single piece can take years to complete.

This piece features a bold all-over diamond lozenge motif in rust red, charcoal, silver grey, and gold — a geometric pattern rooted in Balinese spiritual tradition. Gringsing textiles are believed to hold protective and healing powers and are used in sacred ceremonies across Bali. Owning one is owning a piece of living cultural heritage.

Perfect For

A museum-quality statement piece for a living room, studio, or gallery wall. The dimensions and weight also make it a stunning choice for garment construction — think a one-of-a-kind vest, jacket, or wearable art piece. An exceptional and meaningful gift for collectors of world textiles, ethnographic art, or Balinese culture.

As a handwoven and hand-dyed double ikat textile, slight variations in color, pattern, and dimension are inherent to its artisan origin and are a mark of its authenticity.
