Tenun Gringsing is the sacred double ikat textile made exclusively in the village of Tenganan Pegringsingan in Bali, one of only three places in the world that produces true double ikat cloth. In double ikat, both the warp and weft threads are resist-dyed before weaving, requiring extraordinary precision and skill. A single piece can take years to complete.
This piece is distinguished by its sophisticated, muted palette — a warm taupe ground with three horizontal bands of large diamond chevrons in steel blue, blush pink, cream, and terracotta rust. The layered colorway gives this piece a quiet complexity that rewards close looking, and a versatility that works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Finished with hand-knotted fringe on both ends.
Gringsing textiles are believed to hold protective and healing powers and are used in sacred ceremonies across Bali. Owning one is owning a piece of living cultural heritage.
