Indigo Dyeing with Judy Gula
Saturday, June 7, 2024
10:30 am – 2:30 pm, ½ hour lunch break

Class will take place in our warehouse and/or parking lot, and is limited to 8 students. Create a range of indigo-dyed fabrics to use in your art, garments and quilting, and/or dye garments, vintage linens, trims and more in these amazing shades of blue! Bring your own natural fabrics (note that indigo will not work on synthetic fibers) such as silk, cotton, linen and rayon. Include a variety of weights: thinner fabrics like gauze and chiffons take the dye in a different way than does denim. We will explore Shibori techniques such as arashi, ne-maki, itajime and kumo. Experience the results from a wide variety of Shibori Stitch Resist techniques by preparing your fabrics in the days prior to class. Your registration cost includes a $15 supply fee covering use of a premixed indigo dye vat, use of supplies and 1 yard of 100% cotton prepared for dyeing (PFD) to each student to supplement their own fabrics.
