Carpe Diem — to Sew Woven Tops, Tunics and Dresses! with Fit for Art

June is the perfect time to stitch up Fit for Art’s Carpe Diem pattern to seize the day! This pattern is perfect for both wardrobe basics and fanciful tops in a variety of lengths and sleeve finishes. We will get started with a fitting sample to assure you have a comfortable fit. We will spend time checking out all the many ways the top can be made for every season of the year. Bring your favorite woven fabrics from home or choose some fabrics from the excellent collection at Artistic Artifacts for your first of many Carpe Deim creations — the cropped Carpe Diem pictured was sewn in Indian hand block printed cotton; Rae trimmed the cuffs and hem with recyled trim she had hand-dyed in Judy’s summer Dye Days class. About the Instructors: Rae Cumbie and Carrie Emerson are the founders of Fit for Art Patterns whose Four Core Wardrobe patterns and Variations come from their desire to create comfortable and creative clothing that fits all figures and today’s busy lifestyles. Since 2011 they have been teaching across the US, both virtually and in-person, about fitting and the creative use of sewing patterns to add unique and personalized garments to any woman’s wardrobe.
