Birds Gone Wild Fabric Collage with Judy Gula
Sunday, April 19, 2026
10:00 am-5:00 pm, 1 hour break for provided lunch
Location: Warehouse
Create a playful mixed media bird collage using a combination of vintage and contemporary design! In this popular class (first created by Judy and Liz Kettle of Textile Evolution for our inaugural Creative Minds Summit) you will learn fabric collage, discover tons of hand and machine stitch ideas and try out screen printing and block printing. Using vintage quilt blocks, linens and fabrics, you will create the first layer of your collage. It will then be enhanced using Thermofax screens and hand carved wooden printing blocks using Artistic Artifacts Textile Paints, while both machine decorative stitches and hand stitches depth and interest. Your class kit — a $25 fee paid directly to the instructor the morning of class includes: a vintage quilt block base, vintage and contemporary fabrics, embellishments and trim, plus paint, Thermofax screens, wooden printing blocks and WonderFil Specialty Threads for your use during class. ♦ Student Supply List (please bring the following with you to class) ● small scissors ● rotary cutter ● small cutting mat and ruler ● your own favorite hand-stitching needles and embroidery floss/threads.
Birds Gone Wild encourages freedom of creativity and intuitive assemblage to create your unique vision. Dare to be free with the Wild Birds!
