Crazy Christmas Tree Runner with Dudley Shugart

Need a fresh table runner for Christmas or an extra holiday gift? Come learn to make this cute wonky pine tree runner using the Crazy Christmas Trees by Cut Loose Press (purchase required for class) designed by Karla Alexander! You can also choose to use your blocks in a wall hanging or other fiber project — Dudley used the pattern to create her 2020 stocking for our annual fundraiser! Student Supply List: In addition to the pattern, each student should bring the following:
- Fabrics
- Eight (8) 10-inch squares of green and blue fabrics for your trees — or use the colors you want instead!
- Eight (8) 11 in. x 14 in. rectangles of background fabric
- 1 yard backing fabric
- 1/2 yard of fabric for binding
- piece of quilt batting measuring 18 in. x 45 in. — f you don’t finish your runner in class, you will have all the knowledge necessary to complete it.

triangle ruler with a 45 degree angle (e.g. Creative Grids Spider Web ruler, also designed by Karla Alexander) plus large square ruler (if you already own one)

rotary cutter and cutting mat

sewing machine in good working order, with necessary attachments and accessories

basic sewing notions/supplies (thread, pins, scissors, etc.)
About the Instructor: Dudley Shugart, a member of the Burke chapter of Quilter’s Unlimited, has been quilting for decades as well as having years of experience working at quilt shops, including Artistic Artifacts! Dudley also periodically hosts mini quilting demonstrations and creates many of the beautiful sample quilts you see on display.
