Modern Machine Quilting with Catherine Redford (2 Day Class)
Friday/Saturday, March 27-28, 2026
10:30 am – 4:30 pm, ½ hour lunch break
Location: Upstairs classroom (access stairs only)
A comprehensive 2-day class in machine quilting as you learn to finish your quilts on your domestic machine! Begin your first day with a brief overview of Catherine’s steps for success, and then start to stitch while enjoying all the control of your walking foot. Make stitched samples of different styles including matchstick quilting, grids, combined stitches and serpentines. Elevate your technique with beautiful organic curves and learn how to execute sharp turns. Make accurate straight line polygon spirals, designs reminiscent of string art and round out the class with super spirals.
On day two, discover the magic of free motion quilting in a relaxed, no-criticism- allowed setting. After drawing our designs on paper we'll put the feed dogs down and begin stitching on premade quilt sandwiches to find your personal favorites among a wide variety of patterns. End the morning with feathers! Finish class with some fun extra details. We will discuss using colored threads, combining walking foot and free motion motifs ,and try adding hand stitching for maximum impact. Go home ready to turn your tops into quilts. You will soon be planning your quilting before you even start piecing! Download your student supply list now »
