Saturday, October 17, 2026
10:30 am – 4:30 pm, ½ hour lunch break

Learn the Bargello Quilt Technique — it is easier than you think! Have you seen Bargello quilts and thought they would be too hard to make? Learn how easy they really are in this session with Toni Smith, aka Quiltoni. Learn the technique behind Bargello Quilt Making and how you can change and adapt it for any design or style! (Note: while this class is suitable for all levels, including beginners, prior knowledge of a sewing machine using a rotary cutter is required.) Artistic Artifacts will provide bernette 08 Straight Stitch models — Toni’s favorite machine — for students to share. This class will be a lot of fun and will demonstrate the high speed sewing this model is known for! Student Supply List:

  • No Pattern purchase required: this is a technique class!
  • Fabric: one fabric design (jelly) roll of 40 (forty) 2.5 in. strips
    • or, you can cut 2.5 in. x WOF strips of 20 different fabrics, two strips of each color
    • You can use just a single 20 strip roll (or equivalent cut 2.5 in. x WOF strips) for a smaller lap quilt, to get the technique down
  • Rotary Cutter, cutting mat and straight edge/ruler
  • Basic sewing notions, including straight pins or sewing clips and scissors
  • Graph Paper — download and print Toni’s file
  • Black Marker and either colored pencils or crayons in the colors of your fabric
