Spend the day getting lost in color while creating on your gel plate and learning color theory, stenciling techniques, brayering, mixed media painting, mark-making and mono-printing experimentation. Suitable for anyone from a beginner to a crazy eclectic enthusiast, This will be a leisurely exploration of surfaces, colors, textures, stenciling, mark making and layering. Bring your sketch book, art journal or junk journal — we’ll leave time at the end to collage a small page incorporating the bounty of our work. You’ll leave class with a shopping bag full of ‘fodder’ for your collage/mixed media stash! Your class kit — a $50* fee paid directly to the instructor the morning of class includes a palette knife, a palette pad, and scraper tool — all yours to keep after class! Your fee also includes the following for use while in class: 40+ different colors of TCW Stencil Butters, dozens of TCW stencils, various paint pens, watercolor paper, tissue paper, deli paper.
* Note: you may subtract $10 from your kit fee if you provide your own palette pad, scraper tool and palette knife. ♦ Student Supply List (please bring the following with you to class) ● Gel printing plate (you’ll be using 6 in. x 6 in. stencils, so a small plate is fine) ● Rubber brayer (hard, soft or both) ● Paintbrushes, a small variety of sizes & shapes ● Scissors ● Metallic paint pen of your choice plus other paint-based pens that you can’t live without ● Optional: heat tool (if you already own one, no need to purchase ● Spray bottle if you have.

About the Instructor: Coming from a Fashion Design and Fine Arts background, Jaime Echt has always been drawn to beautiful colors and striking designs. She opened an art store in 1997 and soon realized that no stencils met her creative needs. With pen in hand, she drew the first of over 1,000 designs created and distributed by The Crafter's Workshop. As the popularity of her stencils grew, so did her desire to develop more tools and products that would make stencils easier and more exciting to use. The creation of Stencil Butter and Stardust Butter is Jaime’s answer to 3-dimensional effects that’ll nurture every Artist’s creative soul.
