3-Day Mixed Media Collage Workshop

There's something magical about the sun. It represents warmth, joy, creativity, and new beginnings — and that's exactly what we'll be celebrating during Hello Sunshine! Join Patti Euler and Dee Gray for three inspiring days at Artistic Artifacts in Alexandria, Virginia, where we'll transform layers of wood, paint, paper clay, and mixed-media techniques into one-of-a-kind works of art. Many materials (and your daily lunch) provided: each participant will receive a custom designed, beautifully crafted 12-inch Baltic Birch wood sun, featuring five dimensional layers that become the foundation for a one-of-a-kind mixed-media assemblage. Provided for your use in class: air-dry paper clay; clay roller, tools and cutters (for eyes, lips, cheeks); rubber stamps (for texture and detailing on forehead); Distress inks and foam blending tools and more!
Throughout the workshop, Patti and Dee will guide you step by step as you transform your unfinished wooden sun into a radiant work of art that reflects your own personality and creative style. During Hello Sunshine, you'll learn to:
- Sculpt, stamp, texture, and paint with paper clay
- Create expressive facial features using our custom-designed clay cutters
- Design dimensional details that bring your sun to life
- Explore painting, layering, and mixed-media techniques to create depth and interest
- Develop a cohesive color palette that enhances the layered construction
- Incorporate decorative papers, embellishments, and personal touches to make your piece uniquely yours

About Your Instructors:
Dee (Diane) Gray loves exploring the use of mediums and styles within her mixed-media creations. From canvas, to clay, mosaics, jewelry making to fiber arts–she never grows tired of trying something new. Her one-of-a-kind “Gathered Curiosities” are handcrafted from a blend of vintage and new embellishments. She loves to scour antique shops, estate sales and the outdoors to find the unique treasures that are incorporated into her sought after creations.
Patti Euler is a mixed media artist and Golden certified artist educator from Savage, Maryland. Patti's passion for art is not only reflected in her own work but also in her dedication to helping others “Refine your technique and transform your art.” Her 20+ year reign at The Queen's Ink was marked by her generosity and warmth, making her classes a fun and laughter-filled experience.
